Get to know Jake.

Jake’s foundation in Chinese medicine was laid quietly. His father studied at the Academy of Chinese Medicine in Northcote and practised in the 90s, while his mother is a pillar of Melbourne’s yoga community with a longstanding studio in Caulfield. Growing up immersed in these worlds shaped his understanding of Qi and gave him a personal practice that continues to ground both his life and work.

He completed his formal training in Melbourne with a Bachelor of Health Science (Chinese Medicine), before complementing his studies with an internship at Tsu Chi Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan. There he underwent extensive clinical training, ultimately inspiring his client-centred and results driven approach to practise. He has since deepened his training across several disciplines, including Tung Acupuncture, the Balance Method, and Japanese-style acupuncture with Kiiko Matsumoto. A self-proclaimed nerd when it comes to classical Chinese herbal medicine, Jake draws on Han Dynasty herbalism traditions to prescribe herbal formulae tailored to each individual, with particular experience with digestive disorders, long-COVID, autoimmune diseases and women's health.

At the heart of Jake's practice is a "roots and branches" philosophy - looking beyond surface symptoms to address the deeper imbalances driving them. This means he works with clients on acute issues and chronic conditions alike, but also gently supports the bigger picture: helping people understand their own bodies and recognise the natural rhythms of their wellbeing. He sees health not as something to fix, but as an ongoing process that feels empowering when you're moving in alignment with yourself.

Jake is committed to creating a warm, safe space for everyone who walks through his door — and is proudly an ally to the LGBTQI+ community. Inquisitive by nature and deeply reverent of the traditions he draws from, Jake brings both rigour and care to every session. You'll leave feeling informed, supported, and genuinely heard.

Who I am, not what I do…

If you've come this far, you probably already know what I do—but you might be curious about who I am. I keep our sessions focused on you and your body, which can sometimes leave people wondering about the person behind the practice. So here's where you can get to know me a little better!

  • I follow my gut for big decisions

  • My Saturday morning starts with the newspaper quiz over a coffee with my mates

  • I love singing karaoke in the car

  • I have spent at least a year’s worth of days sleeping in a tent

  • Find me on a sunny day tending to my beehives

  • I thrive on variety - different coffee order every time :)

  • I'm not one to rush through telling a good story

  • I am likely the only Chinese Medicine Practitioner to also love footy

  • I think I am better at DIYing than I am

  • I have a passion for recreating delicious menu items at home

  • I live Chinese medicine

  • Whenever I explore a new place, I do everything within my power to climb the tallest mountain
